Overview

A closed, non-competitive program that helps Australian businesses field-trial clean technology and reduce the risks between a working product and commercial scale.

Delivered by Powering Australia under the Australian Government and industry-funded Australian Made Battery Plan, part of the Building Future Batteries Capability program running to 2027. Grants of $50,000 to $1,000,000 (excl. GST) cover up to 50% of total eligible project costs. A high cash co-investment ratio is essential.

Who can apply

To be eligible, your business or organisation must meet all of the following.

Registered in Australia with an active Australian ABN.
Employs people with Australian working rights, working in a Powering Australia node sector.
Proposes a clean-technology field trial that advances the program's objectives.
Directs all grant expenditure towards the approved project purpose.

How applications are assessed

Applications are assessed on relative merit against four published criteria, subject to available funds and alignment with the program's objectives.

The application process

ApplySubmit an application addressing the eligibility and merit criteria.

Eligibility checkWe validate your identity and confirm eligibility.

Merit assessmentAt least two independent reviewers assess and recommend.

DecisionThe approver decides. You are notified and may appeal to the CEO.

Grant agreementWe finalise a Field Trial Grant Agreement with you.

Deliver & reportWe pay on evidence of expenditure; you report and submit case studies.
